1.0 General. This item shall govern the purchase and installa-
tion of a programmable controller module (PCM) equivalent
to the Wavetronix Click!™ 500. Test results and other docu-
mentation demonstrating performance and capabilities shall
be provided.
2.0 Product Description. The PCM shall be a programmable
controller module for use with serial devices, such as the
Wavetronix SmartSensor™. The PCM shall integrate and pro-
cess serial and digital I/O data.
3.0 Physical. The PCM shall not exceed 0.29 lbs. (0.1 kg) in
weight.
The PCM shall not exceed 4.5 in. × 4 in. × 0.9 in. (11.4 cm x 10.2
cm x 2.3 cm) in its physical dimensions.
The PCM shall operate in the temperature range of -29°F to
165°F (-34°C to 74°C).
4.0 Mounting. The PCM shall mount to a DIN rail with hot-
swappable power and communication buses for quick installa-
tion and replacement.
5.0 Power. The PCM shall operate using less than 0.8 W of
average power at 10 VDC to 30 VDC.
6.0 Connections. The PCM shall include the following con-
nections for power and communication:
6.1 Power. The PCM shall include a 5-position connector,
with two contact points reserved for connecting power
through the bus.
The PCM shall supply voltage input monitoring with set-
table thresholds of 11.7 or 22.9 VDC.
6.2 Serial Ports. The PCM shall include the following
four independent physical serial ports:
● RS-232Front:DB-9femaleDCEconnectorwithDIP
switch override to select between programming and
run mode
● RS-485Top:5-positionconnectorforconnectingfrom
T-bus
● RS-232Top:Pluggablescrewterminal

6.3 Digital Input Ports. The PCM shall include two multi-
function digital input ports with the following features:
● Low-levelACinputmonitoringviaclamp-onsplit-core
currenttransformerswith1W120VACloadthreshold
suitableformonitoringincandescentorLEDsignal
indication status
● Contactclosureinputmonitoringcircuitthatalso
serves to monitor low-level DC logic with a threshold of
2.5 V
● DCvoltageinputmonitoringwithselectablethresholds
of 9, 11.7 and 23.4 VDC
● Maximuminputeventfrequencyof250Hz
6.4 Contact Closure Output Ports. The PCM shall feature
twosolidstatecontactclosureoutputportswith250Hz
of output signaling capability.
7.0 Communication. The PCM shall have the following com-
munication capabilities:
7.1 Serial Protocol Conversion. The PCM shall allow
communications with any serial device that has a serial
connectionbyconverting3-wirehalf-duplexRS-485com-
municationtohalf-duplexRS-232communication,and
vice versa.
8.0 Baud Rates. The PCM shall support baud rates of 1200 bps,
2400 bps, 4800 bps, 9600 bps, 19200 bps, 38400 bps, 57600 bps
and 115200 bps.
9.0 Core Hardware Features.ThePCMshallhavea58MHz
microprocessor that is C-friendly.
ThePCMshallhave1024KofSRAMmemoryand512Kofnon-
volatile Flash memory.
ThePCMshallfeatureareal-timeclockwithbaerybackup.
The clock on the PCM shall withstand a maximum drift of ex-
treme temperatures between -49°F and 185°F (-45°C and 85°C)
of 12 seconds per day.
The PCM shall include watchdog timers that will prevent
device lockup.
10.0 Conguration Features. The faceplate of the PCM shall
featureapush-buontobeusedforselectingtheoperating
mode of the device.
ThefrontofthePCMshallincludearedpowerLED,aswellas
greenandyellowTXandRXLEDsthatshallilluminatewhen
correspondingdataissuccessfullytransmiedorreceived.
TheseLEDs,aswellastheblueLEDnexttothem,shallalso
act as operation mode indicators for operation modes selected
withthepush-buon.
The PCM shall include two banks of user-programmable
LEDs,oneyellowandonered,todisplaysubmenuselections
and application information.
